Youth Sports Summit

All parents and coaches of youth athletes are invited to attend the first annual Youth Sports Summit at George M. Steinbrenner Field. BayCare, in partnership with the New York Yankees and Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), are hosting this important educational event to tackle key issues affecting today's youth athletes.

After breakfast and registration, the event begins with a keynote address by Mark Newman, retired senior VP of Baseball Operations for the New York Yankees and a Certified Trainer for PCA. Attendees will then be able to select from topics including:

• Prevention of Baseball Overuse Injuries with Dr. Tracey DeLucia, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon, BayCare
• Strength and Conditioning: When Is the Right Age to Start? with Daniel Smith, New York Yankees Strength and Conditioning Coach
• Concussions and Youth Sports with Dr. Kevin Elder, Family Medicine Physician, BayCare
• Coaches and Parents Working Together with Callix Crabbe, former MLB baseball player and Certified Trainer, PCA and Ken Eriksen, Head Coach, University of South Florida Softball / Head Coach, USA Softball / PCA National Advisory Board Member
• Nutrition and Hydration for Youth Athletes with Sydney Boehnlein, MS, RD, New York Yankees Nutrition Coordinator and Lindsey McKaig, RD, BayCare
• Sports Science: One vs. Multiple Sports with John Kremer, New York Yankees Director of Performance Science and Luke Wilkins, PhD, Applied Performance Coach in Vision, Perception and Cognition

Each session will provide attendees with valuable information and allow plenty of time for questions and answers. The day will conclude with a panel discussion featuring all of the day's speakers followed by a private tour of Steinbrenner Field!
